With a strong reputation for continuous technical innovation, Ammann Group has extended their advanced series of premium asphalt pavers, known for their reliability and ability to deliver consistently smooth results, to include the ABG pavers range. This brand is globally recognised as a proven leader in asphalt paving, and following its integration into Ammann’s product portfolio in 2024, Youngman Richardson identified a valuable opportunity to bring these high-quality models to the local construction sector.
“ABG is a strong brand that we’re proud to welcome to Ammann,” said Hans-Christian Schneider, CEO of Ammann. “We will continue to build ABG’s exceptional product line and reputation and provide complete roadbuilding solutions for the industry”.
The ABG asphalt paving line is diverse with tracked and wheeled versions available. From compact & city pavers to mid-sized machines and highway-class pavers, these machines are well-known for advanced screed technology, including high-compaction double tamper technology and Variomatic screeds as well as high productivity of up to 1100 tons/hr from the larger models. The new models come with wide paving widths from 0.8m up to 13m on the larger machines and control systems with Electronic Pavement Management (EPM3) / PaveManager for ease of operational use. Fuel efficiency and lower emissions with newer electric options eABG4820 emerging are an added benefit that set them apart.
Recent advances include the e+ screed heat system which can save up to 30 minutes warmup time each shift while also reducing CO2 emissions. Screeds include optional hydraulically controlled end gates and an advanced quick-coupling system for fastest and easiest extensions and unique profile capabilities. The double tamper technology delivers a 5-7 percent higher degree of compaction and can achieve up to 98% Marshall density. The electrically heated Variomatic screeds are easily extended to more than double their basic width.
Mini Class Paver
With a basic paving width of between 0.8–1.3M and max paving width of 1.65M this unique machine has a tight turning radius and clearance width, making it ideal for paving footpaths and handling repair work in narrow surroundings with production capacities of up to 35 tonnes per hour.
City Class Paver
With a basic paving width of between 1.5–3M and max paving width of 4.5M, these tracked and wheeled pavers are compact and high-performing, designed for urban roadwork, narrow streets and small-to-mid sized projects and can place up to 330 tonnes per hour.
Multi Class Paver
The range of tracked options has a basic working width of 2.5-5M and a max paving width of 10M, ideal for urban, commercial and residential projects that require high productivity in compact or restricted spaces producing up to 700 tonnes per hour.
Highway Class Paver
These tracked models have a basic working width of 2.5-5M and a max paving width of 13M, ideal for large-scale, high-capacity, and high-quality surfacing projects. Their design enables consistent, high-density paving across varied materials and applications with productivity of up to 1100 tonnes per hour.
Electric Paver
The new eABG 4820 electric-drive paver was chosen to match a variety of sustainability targets. It is, Ammann says, the largest electric paver on the market, capable of a daily output of 1,200 tonnes while delivering a 70% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to its diesel equivalent. It is equipped with a Variomatic screed, paving widths up to 6.5M, and an impressive output of 500 tonnes per hour. The battery is designed to last a full-shift operation together with reduced noise and odour.
“Ammann’s advanced range of ABG pavers further strengthens and seamlessly complements existing Ammann Heavy Compaction equipment offered by Youngman Richardson. Already of offer are Trench Rollers, Single Drum Rollers, Articulated Drum Rollers and Tandem Rollers featuring the eARX-26 electric Tandem Roller which has zero-emissions”, says Phil Fairfield YR’s sales and marketing director.
Based in Switzerland Ammann has been family owned since 1869 and is a global business that continuously strives to be innovative and customer focused. From large concrete mixing plant to soil and asphalt compaction the company has developed and manufactured technologically advanced sustainable products associated with the roadbuilding industry.
